All clients are required to complete and sign this online Declaration form. Your data is confidential and will not be shared with any third party.

1) Please inform us prior to the start of your appointment of any changes in your dog's health or temperament.

2) Please inform us of any changes to your personal details to comply with our insurance requirements.

3) Your dog's health and welfare whilst in our care is our primary concern. We will only groom your dog according to its tolerance of the process. If your dog is fearful of any of the procedures employed during grooming, a workaround or alternative will be employed where possible.  In extreme cases, it may be necessary to terminate the groom for the safety and wellbeing of your dog. The appointment will still need to be paid for in full. It is your responsibility to ensure that your dog is comfortable with the grooming process. We are not dog trainers, but where possible, we will advise you on desensitisation exercises for you to work through at home, practiced regularly, these exercises will help your dog’s tolerance of the grooming process.

4) As groomers, we are uniquely positioned to provide a regular check on your dog’s overall condition. It is not uncommon for us to discover a pre-existing condition which you may not have been aware of. We will notify you of this so that you can seek veterinary advice. Should it be detrimental to your dog to proceed, the groom will be discontinued.

5) We take special care of your dog while he or she is in our care. However unusual, accidents can happen during grooming. In the event of an accident or serious medical issue arising during your pets groom, you authorise us to seek emergency veterinary treatment. We will always contact you should we need to do so.

6) Prices quoted for standard pet trims are done so assuming your dog tolerates the grooming process, he/she is regularly groomed, and their coat is in good condition. You should reasonably expect to pay more for:

  • Neglected or matted coats
  • Aggressive dogs
  • Dogs which are difficult to manage and those who will not cooperate with the grooming process
  • Overweight dogs or oversized dogs for the breed standard
  • Anxious or nervous pets, who may require frequent breaks and may need special handling
  • Dogs will fleas or other parasites

These special conditions take more time or extra products. These incur a cost which is passed on to you as the owner. Please note, we will attempt to contact you during the groom if we feel extra charges need to be made. If we cannot contact you we will proceed with the groom and you will be notified of the charges upon collection of your dog.

Costs are payable in full at the time you collect your dog.

7) We work by appointment only and most of the time this is on a one-to-one basis. Please be punctual for your appointment. Dogs arriving more than 20 minutes late for their appointment will be considered a missed appointment and the appointment will need to be rebooked. In these cases, you will be charged at 50% of the cost of your groom. This must be paid before the next appointment is booked.  We do understand that sometimes circumstances may be out of your control and costs may be waived at the discretion of the business owner.

8) Should you need to cancel your appointment we require 48 hours notice to fill your appointment space. Should you fail to provide 48 hours notice a cancellation fee of 50% of the price of your groom will apply. Please cancel your appointment by phone or text during our normal working hours. Facebook messages and emails are not acceptable for this purpose.

9) When collecting your dog, you will be notified by text/telephone that your dog is ready to be collected. Please arrive promptly for collection.  Unless by prior agreement, we allow 30 minutes from the time of the text for you to collect your dog. Dogs not collected within 30 minutes will incur a day care charge of £10 for the first hour, following this, the dog will be cared for by the day care staff and their full daily day care fee of £25 will apply.

10) Occasionally it may be necessary for us to shave down your dog’s coat to release it from matting or coat neglect. Woof & Ready, its owner and operator are not liable for any post-grooming effects of this procedure, which is not without risk.  Any humane de-matting will be undertaken solely at our discretion, in compliance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006 (Clause 5 – Animals are to be protected from pain, injury and suffering).  De-matting during a routine groom is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes and is only possible if the matting is minimal. For severely matted coats where de-matting isn’t possible, the only humane way to combat this is to completely shave off the coat. We will always inform you beforehand if this needs to be done and you will be provided with and estimated time and cost for the procedure. Shaving down matted dogs is not something as groomers we like to do. It carries an increased risk of injury to your dog, it consumes significantly more time, labour, product & tool/equipment wear and tear than a routine trim therefore will incur an extra charge.  All costs are payable in full at the time you collect your dog.

11) We reserve the right to refuse to groom any dog at risk of harming us or itself. If your dog is accepted for grooming & displays aggression that we have not been informed of, the groom will be immediately terminated and you will be contacted to collect your dog. The full price of the groom will be charged. It is your responsibility to inform us prior to grooming if your dog has ever bitten or displayed aggression. Failure to disclose this information may result in refusal of further services. Your attention is drawn to the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, which holds owners liable for bites and injuries caused by their dogs.

12) We aim to maintain a calm, fun environment for both groomer and dogs. You can aid this by bringing in your dog on a lead, socialising your dog with other people/dogs and teaching them a basic level of obedience. We also ask that you allow your dog to attend to its toileting needs before it arrives at the salon. Dogs that are overstimulated in the salon environment (scratching, howling and barking and generally stressed) will need to be picked up as soon as possible upon completion of services to preserve a less distracted environment for other dogs.

13) We work closely with Reaseheath College and occasionally we have work experience students in the salon. These students are experienced in animal care and are capable of acting calmly and responsibly around your dog. We welcome our work experience students and hope to provide a positive example to them of a responsible dog-first grooming service. Our work experience students are always supervised in the salon.
